Man Utd v Liverpool
A two goal win for Liverpool (or a 1-0) will see us go third.

Would feel grubby if I actually cheered them on, but third for a week would be, well, nice.

This game is being ridiculously hyped up in the media (esp Sky) this time round. More than usual.

Why? Nothing better for them to talk about? Trying to inject some meaning into an ever less important match between two modern day has beens/also rans?

I object to being force fed the 'importance' of this match.

I have watched Man U play us, Everton, Arsenal & Southampton and they have been second best in each game. And won all of them.
I think they may actually play better and win comfortably today. Liverpool are a mess

A draw is now probably best.

I'll leave the third place contest till the last week of the season - if we're part of it the media will squeal like stuffed pigs about how unfair and disrespectful we've been.

It will be 2-1 to Man U.

Joke - that sounds like a good thing to me.

Savage's sole bit of West Ham analysis last night was that we'll finish top ten. I wonder how much he gets paid for saying a team in form will fall up to six places for no given reason?

Re: Man Utd v Liverpool
Would rather Man U won because we can finish above Liverpool.

I think we are in a mini league for 5th place with spurs, Liverpool, Everton, Southampton, Newcastle and Swansea. Sure beats watching out for west brom, villa, stoke, hull, sunderland etc

Do people really expect us to finish top 4?

Dream big by all means but let's keep the expectation realistic.

If Liverpool win by 2 clear goals, we go above Man U, do we want that as much as I HATE Liverpool?

West Ham aren't going to finish in the top 4.

Let's be sensible.

Re: Man Utd v Liverpool
I will be ecstatic if we finish 8th. Like Southampton we will have a period where we lose 4 in a row.
I'm loving the way we are playing though. How many games last season were we scratching around to decide whether we had actually had a shot on goal? Now we create chances and are in every game.

Re: Man Utd v Liverpool
Not one person in this thread has said that West Ham are going to finish the season 4th or higher.

Re: Man Utd v Liverpool
9th or better is realistic and would be an improvement over our previous 10th.

Do we really want to get involved in Europe next year? Not for me but I suppose I'm in the minority.

But just imagine...

Last season at the Boleyn. European nights aplenty.

First game at the OS. The team emerge from the tunnel holding the Europa Cup.

First season at the OS - Champions League nights (maybe not as aplenty).

I'm off for a lie-down.

Interesting comparison when you think of the performances of Song, Sahko, Valencia, Cresswell , Jenkinson, Kouyate , Amalfitano & Zarate for us as new players compared to Rodgers summer buys for Liverpool.
Lallana £25m
Lovren £20m
Markovic £19.8m
Balotelli £16m
Moreno £12m
Can £9.75m
Lambert £4m

love to go 3rd but a reality check here is that we won't finish above utd. however liverpool could challenge us for a europe spot.

sorry to say but a manu u win is the best option

Re: Man Utd v Liverpool
Fuck what logic and past history suggests. There is no reason why we can't finish top 4 this season, based on the form of the usual suspects.

Nobosy at West Ham expects us to finish up there, I don't, but I do believe it's possible and I do hope we can pull it off.

I certainly won't be one to whisper in our players' ears that they can't do it.

I hope Liverpool get an undenialbly lucky 2-0 win over the mancs, where both goals are down to terrible defensive errors by man u.

I'm with Big Andy - we're going to be champions. We need to drop him to the bench though.

I'm with '64.

I think we're still at least a season away from a stable entry onto the European stage, but...I recall vividly our earlier European games under the lights at the Boleyn and if there's one set of memories I could wish upon those who currently attend home games to take with them to the O/S it's such memories.

Let's have more of the dreaming and less of the fading & dying.
